Care guide

With the right care, a shawl keeps the texture and colour it had on the first day. A few clear rules:

01

Cleaning

  • Dry cleaning only is recommended for every piece. Machine and hand washing damage both the fibre structure and the vividness of the print.
  • If a stain appears, do not rub it. Blot gently with a clean white cloth and take the piece to a dry cleaner as soon as possible.
  • Keep away from perfume, hairspray and deodorant; alcohol-based products permanently dull the lustre of silk.
02

Ironing

  • If silk needs pressing, use the lowest setting, work from the reverse and place a thin cotton cloth in between.
  • Do not apply steam directly to the cloth; it can leave water marks.
  • Cotton shawls press best on a medium setting while slightly damp.
03

Storage

  • Roll rather than fold where possible; fold lines become permanent in silk over time.
  • Keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
  • Choose a cotton pouch or box over a plastic bag so the fibre can breathe.
04

Wearing

  • Jewellery and bag chains rubbing against silk can cause pulls; take care when tying.
  • Fine pulls should never be cut — ease them gently back from the reverse.
  • Rest a piece between wears rather than using the same one day after day; the fibre needs time to recover.
